Make a plan to vote.

Check your information, have your Voter Information Letter ready, and choose the voting option that works for you. Help is available if you need it.

01When can I vote?

Voting opens on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 10 a.m. and closes on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8 p.m.

You can vote online or by telephone during this period. You do not need to wait until Election Day.

All times are Eastern Time. In-person help centres have separate opening hours.

02Am I eligible to vote?

To vote in Centre Wellington’s municipal council election, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years old on Election Day.
  • Live in Centre Wellington, personally own or rent property here, or be the spouse of someone who personally owns or rents property here.
  • Not be legally prohibited from voting.

Renters can vote. You do not need to own a home.

Special rules can apply to students living away from home and people with property in more than one municipality. Ask Township election officials if you are unsure about your eligibility.

03How do I cast my vote?

Centre Wellington is using internet and telephone voting.

Your mailed Voter Information Letter contains your PIN and instructions. Follow those instructions to access the voting system. You will also need the date of birth recorded on your voter account.

Keep your PIN private. If you need assistance, contact Township election officials or visit a Voter Help Centre.

04How do I check or update my voter information?

Visit the Municipal Office at 1 MacDonald Square, Elora, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., to register or update your information.

Bring acceptable identification showing your name and qualifying address. Check that your mailing address and date of birth are correct.

05What if my Voter Information Letter is missing?

If your letter has not arrived by the start of voting, or you have lost it, contact Township election officials promptly.

Officials can check your registration and explain the identification and replacement-PIN process. Do not use a letter addressed to someone else.

06Where can I get help voting in person?

In Elora, visit the Municipal Office, 1 MacDonald Square, during these published help-centre hours:

  • October 19–21: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • October 22–23: 8:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • October 24–25: 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
  • October 26: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.

Other sessions are available in Fergus and Belwood. Check the Township’s full schedule before travelling.

07How do I confirm my ward?

Use the Township’s official ward lookup to search your address.

If you live in Centre Wellington, you vote in the ward where you live. Owning another property in a different ward does not let you choose that ward instead.

If you qualify as a non-resident elector or need help confirming your ward, contact Township election officials.

08What accessibility support is available?

Election officials can help voters at in-person Voter Help Centres. The Township’s accessibility plan also provides for service animals, support persons, and election information in alternative formats.

If a support person will assist you, election officials will explain the required confidentiality process.
